Rhinoplasty is hands down my favorite operation, and there are two main reasons why: One, I love the intricacies of the facial anatomy, and two, I find it very technically challenging – the latter actually being one of the reasons some plastic surgeons shy away from the procedure.
Rhinoplasty is a procedure that requires a lot of attention to very fine details, basically thinking in millimeters rather than inches. It really takes someone who is exceptionally particular in what they do. What I find most interesting, is that every nose is different. So rather than constructing the same nose for multiple patients, I have to make each unique nose fit each unique face.
In addition to primary rhinoplasties, I also enjoy performing revision rhinoplasties. A revision rhinoplasty is basically a second rhinoplasty procedure performed to correct issues from a previous nose surgery. These secondary procedures are a bit tougher, but I still enjoy them and have actually become a referral in the region for difficult revision rhinoplasties.
In the end, whether I’m correcting a cosmetic-based concern or reconstructing the nose to improve breathing issues, I know I’m ultimately helping to improve someone’s well-being, and that means a lot to me.
